iPod Shuffle - A review
I’ve had my Shuffle for a few months now so I thought I’d share my thoughts and experiences having used it for a little while.
When I bought the Shuffle I was really after a decent sized USB memory key (because they are so handy in the office). I figured I might as well spend a few pounds extra and get a Shuffle.
I already have a bruised and battered 20Gb iPod so I hadn’t really intended to use the music features much. However as the battery life has been shrinking on my iPod I started to use it whilst travelling to work. It’s reallt great for this purpose becuase it’s so much lighter than an iPod and you can switch tracks etc. by feel rather than having to dig it out of your pocket. The battery life is really good, I get about 3 days of medium usage before I need to recharge it. Recharging is really simple too, working in IT I’m never that far away from a USB port
As you might know I’m a keen snowboarder so on my last trip I thought I’d try out riding with music. The Shuffle works really well for this because its:-
- Pretty much indestructible
- Very light
- Waterproof (enough)
- Holds more than a days songs
I have to say I surprised myself by really enjoying listening to music while riding. It wasn’t distracting (I thought it might be) and I had the volume low enough that I could still hear people around me. There is not much quite like having a really high energy track kick in as you stand at the top of a steep run or a nice floaty track as you carve through the powder!!
