Regular readers may have noticed we’ve been having some problems maintaining service recently (Tomcat crashed, Tomcat memory problems, Tomcat memory problems ) Well I was looking at my weblogs today and it seems we’ve had 30,000 hits this month!
Think I will have to look at spreading the load between my two (very low powered) servers and buying a bit more RAM!

Garmin Quest Arrived!

My Garmin Quest has arrived and I have to say it’s very cool! I need to read the instructions because I keep on deleting my detailed maps. I have a theory that when you send data to the device it wipes the whole RAM clear rather than adding what you asked it too. I’ll try and verify this tonight!

On a related now I found this cunning way of Converting Postcodes to Waypoints on John’s Blog. I don’t understand why Garmin don’t include postcode searching as standard, I can search on addresses after all!

Garmin Quest

I finally made my decision and plumped for a Garmin Quest. It does everything I want it to and comes with maps for the whole of Europe! We’re starting to plan an alpine driving trip in the summer so this will come in really handy! I’m also (once I’ve got my boarding legs back) planning to take it snowboarding to see how well it works! Just waiting for buyers guilt to kick in now…

I saw this article about “Finding the Best Programmer’s Font” a while ago and forgot about it. The winning font is definitely nice to look at. Think I’ll have to try it out for a while.
